what a great topic....for such a long time..nobody to speak english around me..i went crazy..the ast three days...

It looks you don't use Facebook or Skype - according to my estimates more than 70 % of the status messages Bulgarian users post are in English, not to mention the trend of answering in English to questions, asked in Bulgarian. It seems the great majority of English-speaking Bulgarians and even those, who have quite insufficient knowledge of English, are unsatisfied with their native language and seem to idolize the English tongue. Do I have to say that pisses me off?

It depends on the situation... I also sometimes make comments in English, especially about pictures, because they are often discussed by people who don't speak Bulgarian, too. Still, the use of English with no good reason is something that pisses me off as well, as much as I may love the language.

Well I personally cant help but switch languages when I experience difficulty in finding the corect word in Bulgarian.
I have this habbit of sometimes thinking in English rather than in Bulgarian

Actually, so farthe Bulgarian translation of FB is quite accurate. I love it. Definitely the work of people who know what they're doing. Skype on the other hand still has some splinters to be cut, to borrow a Bulgarian phrase.
But I don't get it... how can you hate the spread of your language to probably the biggest social networking site out there? I ate a celebratory cookie, when I heard the news. If not that, at least think of our friends, Sofians and countrymen, who do not have the same command and understanding of the English language. For them the translation of sites and software is a blessing.

Lol , I really think there is no better way to translate the name, but then again I've never really liked translating names. The first thing that comes to mind is the names of places and people in Tolkien's novels: Baggins - Торбинс, Samwise - Самознай, Brandywine - Брендивин etc. We don't translate George Bush into Георги Храстов, now do we?

I'm not pecking at or being disrespectful towards anybody, you seem to be making things up. Lyubomir Nikolov's translation is indeed impeccable, but I personally don't like name translation. Not only in "Lord of the Rings", but in general. And yes, they would sound better to me if they were only transliterated. "It's a matter of taste," the dog said, and... Well, you know the rest.
